Man you guys are being brutal to the poor guy... I mean, if you think it's a bad idea, you think it's a bad idea... but c'mon now... how about restoring a bit of civility?
I mean it seems like most of you want this to be a bad idea... to the point where you're really grasping at anything to point it out as an exploit. Perhaps because you want to maintain your insurmountable lead over new players so that you can consistently beat them no matter what just because you joined earlier than they did? I mean, I've already heard some cute elitist comments about "you not being around for this and that"... I mean, seems like being able to lord it over people is more of a priority...
I mean, honestly, if we want to talk about ridiculous things... being able to become a top-notch fighter while sitting in your hangar when other people are out there working their butts off and getting the same deal... that's just silly too.
I mean, you react to XP-based skill learning like it's the end of the world... I mean, I haven't seen examples of such foundless paranoia since the Red Scare..
There are plenty of other MMORPG's that use exclusively XP-based systems... and the world has not come to an end for them... and he's not even talking about replacing the current system... just adding to it.
The strongest argument put forth is the afk fighting, and this is the argument that has the simplest solution: you only get the SP for killing the rats. And the flimsiest argument: that it will just lead to a grind in getting skills... Yeah... we wouldn't want people doing missions all the time their on... or mining constantly to get refining SP... because people aren't do that already...
And macros are a pain... but if the SP are only given for having accomplished certain goals that cheaters would be using macros for anyway, then it minimizes that problem... and besides, there are always players out there looking for macro miners. -----------------------------------------------
